The short version: Echo Player is a media player. We don't provide content and we don't sell your data. Your watch history, favourites and parental PIN stay on your device. We keep only what we need to register your devices, run your account and deliver premium features.
1. Who we are
Echo Media Player (“Echo Media Player”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Dawazak Technologies Limited, a company registered in Nigeria with its office in Abuja. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy. It applies to the Echo Player apps for mobile and TV, the website echomediaplayer.com, the user portal at user.echomediaplayer.com and the reseller dashboard.
2. Information we collect
Device information
When you first open Echo, the app registers your device with our servers and receives a device ID. We store that ID with basic technical details such as the device type (mobile or TV), app version, operating-system version and registration or subscription status. Our servers also log IP addresses and request times for security and reliability.
Account information
If you create an account in the user portal we collect your email address, a securely hashed password and the devices you link. Resellers additionally provide business and contact details, and we keep records of tokens, management codes and the devices they activate.
Playlists and guide sources
- Added in the app: Xtream Codes logins and EPG sources you add inside the app are stored on your device.
- Added in the portal or by a reseller: playlists and guide sources you add in the user portal, or that a reseller assigns to your device, are stored with your account so they can be delivered to your devices.
Information that stays on your device
Your watch history, Continue Watching positions, favourites, downloads, subtitle and player preferences and your parental-control PIN are stored locally on your device. The parental PIN is never sent to our servers.
Payments
Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We receive confirmation of the payment, the plan purchased and limited transaction details. We do not receive or store your full card number.
Update checks
Versions downloaded directly from us periodically check for updates. The check sends the app's version, package name, Android version and supported processor types (ABIs) so we can offer the right file.
Website
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security.
3. How we use information
- To register your device, provide the trial and premium features, and link devices to your account.
- To deliver playlists and guide sources you or your reseller choose to send to a device.
- To show artwork, descriptions and TV-guide information — the app may request public metadata from our servers or third-party metadata services using titles or channel names, never your playlist login.
- To process payments and management-code activations.
- To send service emails such as account verification and password resets.
- To keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Legal bases
We process personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, where it applies, the EU/UK GDPR. Our bases are: performing our contract with you (running the app and your account); our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and improving the service); your consent where we ask for it; and compliance with legal obligations.
5. Sharing
We share information only with:
- Service providers who host our servers, deliver email and process payments, under contracts that require them to protect it.
- Your reseller, if you activate a device with a reseller's management code or a reseller manages your device: they can see the device, its status and what they have assigned to it.
- Authorities where we are legally required to, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or us.
- A successor if our business is reorganised, merged or sold, subject to this policy.
6. Retention
We keep account and device records for as long as your account or device registration is active, then delete or anonymise them within a reasonable period unless we must keep them longer for legal, tax or security reasons. Data stored only on your device is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
7. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and account lock-outs after repeated failed sign-ins. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
8. International transfers
Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country. Where we transfer personal data internationally we use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. You can delete most data yourself by unlinking devices, removing playlists or deleting your account in the portal. To make a request, email . You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or your local data protection authority.
10. Children
Echo Player is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Parents can use the parental-control PIN to restrict content on shared devices.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
