Everything you need to know about getting set up and getting the most out of Echo.
What is Echo Player?
Echo Player is the app from Echo Media Player — a media player for IPTV playlists. You add a playlist from your own provider and Echo Player gives you a fast, beautiful way to watch its live channels, movies and series — with a TV guide, subtitles, favourites and parental controls.
Does Echo Player provide any channels, movies or series?
No. Echo Player is strictly just a media player application and does not provide any type of content whatsoever, including live TV channels or VOD. To use Echo Player you need to add a playlist or a management code from your provider.
Which devices are supported?
Android phones and tablets (Android 6.0 and newer), Android TV, Google TV and Amazon Fire TV. Versions for Windows, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen and Hisense VIDAA are on the way.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Your free 7-day trial starts when you add your first playlist, so you have the full 7 days to try everything. When the trial ends you can purchase premium or activate the device with a management code.
How do I add a playlist?
Open Echo Player and go to Settings › Playlists › Add Playlist. Enter the Xtream Codes details (server URL, username and password) your provider gave you. Echo Player loads channels, movies and series first, then the TV guide in the background.
Which playlist formats work?
Echo Player works with Xtream Codes logins (server URL, username and password) from your provider. You can add more than one playlist and switch between them.
How do I install Echo Player on Fire TV or Android TV?
The easiest way is the Downloader app: install Downloader from your TV's app store, allow it to install unknown apps, then enter our Downloader code. Full steps are on the download page.
Do I need an account?
Not to start. Echo Player registers your device automatically. A free account at user.echomediaplayer.com lets you link devices, activate premium without typing on your TV, and manage everything in one place.
How do I activate premium on my TV?
On the welcome screen choose Purchase or Activate. Your TV shows an activation code — sign in at user.echomediaplayer.com on your phone or computer and enter the code. The TV unlocks within seconds.
What is a management code?
A six-character code supplied by your provider or reseller. Enter it under Purchase or Activate › Management Code to activate premium on that device.
How much does premium cost?
Current plans and prices are shown in the user portal at user.echomediaplayer.com. If you bought through a reseller, they will give you a management code instead.
How do I remove a device from my account?
On the device, go to Settings › Preferences and choose to unlink or detach it. You can also manage devices from the user portal. Your playlists stay on the device.
Where does the TV guide come from?
If your provider includes a guide it's loaded automatically. You can also add your own XMLTV guide sources in Settings › Manage EPG.
A channel or movie won't play. What can I try?
First check the stream with your provider — Echo Player plays what your playlist provides. Then try another player engine in Settings › Player Settings: the MPV player handles unusual codecs and subtitle formats, or you can hand playback to an external player installed on your device.
Can I change how subtitles look?
Yes. Settings › Subtitles lets you change the font, colours, position and timing, including showing subtitles earlier or later.
How do parental controls work?
Set a four-digit PIN in Settings › Preferences › Parental Controls. Restricted content will then ask for the PIN. The PIN is stored on your device only and is never sent to our servers, so we can't see it — contact support if you get locked out.
Can I download to watch offline?
On mobile you can download movies and episodes where your provider's streams allow it, then watch them without a connection.
How do updates work?
Store versions update through the store. The direct-download version checks for updates itself, downloads them in the background and asks you to restart. On mobile, updates use Wi-Fi only unless you allow mobile data in Settings.
Do you store my playlists?
Playlists you add inside the app are stored on your device. Playlists you add in the user portal — or that a reseller assigns to your device — are saved to your account so they can be delivered to your devices. See our Privacy Policy.
Is it legal to use Echo?
Echo Player itself is a lawful media player. You are responsible for making sure that any playlist or content you use with it is something you have the right to watch.
How do I become a reseller?
Create a free account, then apply from our reseller page. Once approved, the reseller dashboard is enabled on your account.
What can resellers do?
Create management codes, keep a token balance, assign playlists and EPG sources to customer devices remotely, manage devices and tidy content metadata.
